Exploring African American Male Youth’s Perceptions of Community Involvement Through 4-H Programs

Civic engagement research suggests that youths’ involvement in their communities results a number of positive personal and social attributes. However, among urban populations, there is still dearth on the impact civic participation development. More importantly within these limited understanding how Black male youth engage participatory spaces. Increasing but young usually focuses identity, programs, socioeconomic levels. Further needed as to factors which influence interests actual community extracurricular activities. This paper explores data from African American high school include perceptions knowledge attitudes toward being involved through 4-H programs. The authors find opportunities learn new skill building professional portfolios assist males perception effective making difference for themselves.
